About Me

Choosing a therapist is one of the most important decisions you will make. You need to take in account your comfort level with my personality, my approach to therapy, and my training. My style is to tap into both my educational background and my life experiences when working with you. My clients have described me as "spiritual, intuitive, personally knowledgeable, highly professional but very down to earth." I have a straightforward, goal-oriented approach to therapy, believing that honesty, even if it is uncomfortable, is a faster means to a solution. I do not force my own treatment agenda or spiritual beliefs upon my clients. I have the utmost respect for my clients, who come from all walks of life and spiritual backgrounds. I work with some clients only in the traditional therapy arena, while other clients prefer holistic/alternative psychotherapy.

Personal:

I am originally from Madison, Indiana but grew up in the South. After completing my undergraduate degree, I worked for a major pharmaceutical firm for a number of years. Despite my success in the corporate world, I was spiritually led to continue my education to become a counselor. After completing my graduate degree and internship in Philadelphia, PA, I moved to Indianapolis, IN, where I eventually opened my private practice. My priorities changed after having my first child and subsequently I moved back to Memphis to be closer to family. I have two young children. I restarted my practice here in Memphis in 2001. My curiosity for people and of other cultures has led me to extensively travel the world, including Africa, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Europe. Travel continues to be a passion of mine.
